If
by: Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

"Our tendency in the midst of suffering
is to turn on God.
To get angry and bitter
and shake our fist at the sky
and say,
"God, you don't know what it's like!
You don't understand!
You have no idea what I'm going through.
You don't have a clue how much this hurts."

The cross is God's way of taking away all of our
accusations,
excuses,
and arguments.

The cross is God taking on flesh and blood and saying,
"Me too."

artiste'

“Every day an artist gets up and knows he has to run.

He has to run faster than the distant fragments of our time,

faster than the voices hemming him in,

telling him that however much he thinks,

imagines,

writes or comunicates,

the system has already found a new way of drowning him out.

Faster than the army of pretentious pinheads boasting artistic bollox,

screaming their cheapskate anger, selling out for twenty seconds of fame,

filling their arses with gold so they can say I was there,

applauding midgets dressed up as giants.

He knows he has to chase ideals that have packed their bags

And run off to the nearest tourist haven or tax haven

and chase gods that ask for a discount on the rent on olympus

and apartments with a view of the clouds because,

if they look down, they say they get an urge to throw up.

Down here,

it’s all ours,

it all belongs to men and women,

but it’s common knowledge that we’ve never had a particular talent for doing things well.

Every day an artist gets up and knows he has to run.

What he doesn’t know,

perhaps, is that he doesn’t have to run …alone”.

[see]

genuine is the answer.

Before you can inspire with emotion,
you must be swamped with it yourself.
Before you can move their tears,
your own must flow.
To convince them,
you must yourself believe.

[hear]

Castles in the sky.

the new Taylor Steele movie - YESSSS!
this is the follow up to Sipping Jetsreams,
titled "Castles In The Sky".
its less about waves & cutbacks,
&more about the cultures & people that surfers encounter.
hence why i love it. we live in a beautiful world,
& these movies capture it so well.
Out in June!

[see]

a delicate world

a few weeks ago "Eyjafjallajokull",

would have registered as a grammatical error.
today,
the unpronounceable word has far greater meaning,
particularly in europe.
the aptly named volcano in Iceland,
that looks reminiscent of an independence day scene,
proved yet again how frail & failing our world is.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Romans 8:18-25
